We are now past the date by which Google was going to change it’s rating scale and include consideration of a website’s mobile-friendliness. Google announced this change weeks ago so that website owners would have the chance to review their sites and redesign them to work properly on mobile devices. The logic is good, with so many more people now accessing the internet via mobile device than by computer.
The changes only effect the results of searches from mobile devices (smartphones) across all languages and locations. Google also says that “It’s a page-level change. For instance, if ten of your site’s pages are mobile-friendly, but the rest of your pages aren’t, only the ten mobile-friendly pages can be positively impacted.”
Have you taken the time to check that your website is mobile friendly?
Google has released a simple Mobile-Friendly Test page. All you need to do is to enter your URL and Google will scan your site and give you feedback. It is well worth doing, not only for the impact on Google ranking, but so that you can directly connect with all those people using mobile devices.
If you haven’t yet updated to make your site responsive, don’t panic. You won’t disappear from the rankings!
However we do recommend checking your site via Google’s tool, You might be surprised at the results.
