InstagramEarlier this year, we posted a two-part series of articles (click here and here to check them out) on why NFPs need to have an Instagram account if they want to maximise their opportunities to increase public awareness about their charity.

In these articles, we pointed out that with 100 million users and growing, Instagram is a great way to connect with others on an emotional scale using images. We also provided tips on how to best set up your Instagram account so that you can better spread the message about your cause and its mission.

Instagram Today

Instagram is now one of the number one ways that NFPs can increase their reach and garner greater support among followers, donors, volunteers, and the communities that you serve, as well as others that can help your NFP reach its service goals. There’s even evidence that you are more likely to increase your reach with younger teens and adults, as less than 8% of all Instagram users are age 40 and over. This younger group provides a critical pool of potential volunteers and donors that you will wish to reach if you wish your NFP to continue to grow in the coming years.

Reasons Why Following NFPs on Instagram is a Great Idea for Your Cause

In addition to the tips that we mentioned in our earlier articles, you may want to consider following other NFP accounts on Instagram. Doing so can give you clues as to the types of posts that do and do not gain rapid support and reach. It’s also helpful to build your network of connections with other NFPs as doing so can provide each with an additional means of finding advice and support. After all, no one truly understands that challenges that a specific NFP might face, unless it happens to be the members of a fellow NFP.

In our next post we will introduce you to some of the best NFP Instagram accounts that we’ve come across and explain why you need to follow them.
