How does your nonprofit use technology? Is it just a tool that your nonprofit uses to make certain tasks faster and easier? Or is it a vital part of your nonprofit’s infrastructure that is used to support your NFP’s mission and achieve its goals?
Why is IT so Important for NFPs?
There are a number of ways that nonprofits use technology to increase their effectiveness. From mapping the needs of your service community to increasing other means of support for your NFP, there are a host of ways that technology can do the “heavy lifting” and literally make every task connected with your NFP easier to accomplish. If you’ve not been increasing your NFP’s use of technology, the chances are that you are missing out on opportunities to increase your NFP’s productivity and reach.
Why are Tech Surveys Important for NFPs and Other Organisations?
Surveys are a great way for nonprofits and other organisations to identify areas for improvement. For example, a survey conducted last year by Infoxchange, Connecting Up and Tech Soup discovered that nearly a third of all nonprofits report that their IT capabilities are “challenged.” The same report suggested that the cause of recent decreases in fundraising may be, at least in part, connected with the inadequate use of IT by NFPs.
The Purpose of the 2016 Global NGO Online Technology Survey
With a goal of achieving over 10,000 respondents, the Public Interest Registry and Nonprofit Tech for Good are collaborating on a research project that looks at how NFPs use technology. Ideally, the results of the survey will increase understanding of now nonprofits all around the world use technology to communicate with donors and others connected with their NFPs.
The 2016 Global NGO Online Technology Survey is available in three languages, English, French and Spanish and respondents have between now and October 31st to take the survey. The results of this questionnaire will be available in the second annual edition of the Global NGO Online Technology Report, which is expected to be released on January 30, 2017.
Are You All In?
Why not do your part to increase understanding of how nonprofits use technology to increase communication and awareness about their NFP? Take the survey today and ask directors and board members at other NFPs to take the survey as well.
