Banks understand how hard volunteer treasurers work, and how vital it is that they do a good job as well. It is only fitting then, that the Commonwealth Bank is behind a series of awards to recognise the valuable contributions of volunteer treasurers.
Entries are Open
The 2016 Commonwealth Bank Not-For-Profit Treasurers’ Awards are already open for nominations, with the final entry date approaching on July 29. The actual awards will come out in September, during Not-For-Profit Finance Week. Don’t miss the chance to get some well-earned praise directed at your organisation’s treasurer.
Categories of Recognition
There are two categories a treasurer can be awarded under.
1 If your treasurer is nominated by the organisation, they will receive a certificate of appreciation, to symbolise how vital their work is to the ongoing operation of the not-for-profit they belong to.
2. If a treasurer themselves wants to put their own nomination in, they do so by completing a full application. This application includes sharing their experiences and ideas around their ability to handle challenging situations as a treasurer. These experiences and insights give them the chance to win one of three $5000 prizes, which are contributed to the organisations the winners belong to.
Treasurers In the Spotlight
These nationwide awards have caught the attention of the treasurers of each Australian state and territory. In the information handbook for the awards, each of these elected officials offers their perspective on how important the work of volunteer treasurers is. Several of them mention that without the work of hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country, many of our most loved institutions would not exist. Queensland Treasurer, The Honorable Curtis Pitt, M.P. says that, “…awards such as the Treasurer’s Awards are an essential acknowledgement of the determined efforts of volunteers who give tirelessly of their time.”
