treasurers' awardsA treasurer’s job is one of the most important jobs there is in a nonprofit. They need to be accurate and efficient with absolutely no room for error. It can be stressful and demanding but totally rewarding as well.

The Commonwealth Bank has created the Not-For-Profit Treasurer’s Award as a way for organisations to thank those who work hard behind the scenes managing their finances. The treasurers may not be the face of the nonprofit, but they are definitely the backbone of each organisation, toiling away to meet deadlines to ensure that everything is up to speed.

If you have a treasurer that is deserving of an award, then make sure you get your application in.

This year the treasurers’ awards are divided into two parts.

1. Nominate and recognise your treasurer: Nominate them to receive an official award certificate of appreciation. It will be forwarded directly to your organisation with your treasurer’s name on it. You can nominate your treasurer here.

2. Apply as a treasurer and win $5,000: This year the Commonwealth Bank are asking treasurers to contribute and share their knowledge by creating a financial template, a financial policy or a summary and outline of a financial webinar. There are three $5,000 donations to be won for the best submission in each category. Treasurers can apply for this category here.

Nominations close on Friday, July 28 and winners will be announced on September 18. Certificates will be distributed during the same week, which happens to coincide with the Not-for-Profit Finance Week.

It is important for each treasurer, whether working in a volunteer or paid capacity, to be recognised in the nonprofit community for all the hard work they do. This treasurer’s award goes a long way in doing just that.
