It does not matter what role you are in, continuous training is always a good thing. Even senior managers and leaders should be looking to build on and develop their skills to reach higher levels of achievement. While you may think you know everything there is to do with your job, there is always further training that can be done to clarify specific points, widen your focus and stay up to date with issues in the nonprofit industry. Learning comes in many forms – from listening to podcasts on the way to work to professional courses and residential courses focused around a particular theme. Individuals who fail to learn new skills are at risk of growing stale in their current role.
Two courses being offered by the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) are the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) and the Executive Fellows Program (EFP). They are designed to build and strengthen leadership skills, increase confidence and improve understanding of the government.
Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA)
The Executive Master of Publication Administration caters to the not-for-profit managers and offers management and strategic skills to become leaders in their organisation and field.
Executive Fellows Program (EFP)
The Executive Fellows Program is suitable for NFP senior executives working in organisations that follow charitable purposes. It is an intensive 3-week residential program to develop the skills of leaders so they can head organisations, respond to change and build vital relationships.
ANZSOG Scholarships
ANZSOG is offering five scholarships for not-for profit senior managers and leaders to participate in the EMPA at a discounted rate, as well as three scholarships for the EFP. Both scholarships offer a 50% reduction in program fees to all who are successful in their applications.
You can visit the ANZSOG website to learn more about both programs or contact the Program Coordinator on 03 8344 1990. You can also email the program team direct at programs_team@anzsog.edu.au. Or if preferred, expressions of interest can be filled in and sent via their online form. All applicants must be employed by a not-for-profit organisation and meet the selection criteria outlined for each course.
