Fundraising year after year can become tiresome pretty quickly. It is about time that you breathe some much needed fresh air back into the fundraising schedules.
Here are some ways you can put the F-U-N back into your fundraising strategies without detracting from your overall aim.
1. Crowdfunding
Crowdfunding is definitely becoming a more attractive option. The idea is generally reward-based, so while you need to spend some money on a variety of reward levels, it is still possible to earn a lot of money through this online fundraising method. The most important thing to remember when running a crowdfunding campaign is to market it big. The bigger the marketing plan, the more chance of people seeing it.
2. Charity Auctions
Charity auctions can be a lot of fun and extremely profitable. The trick here is to find some willing businesses that would be prepared to donate some desirable products or services to your auction. This will minimise the cost of putting on such an event, and those who donate can go home with something to remember the event by.
3. Raffles
Raffles can still work well as a fundraiser as everyone has a chance – not just the highest bidder. Again find a few organisations that would be willing to donate a product or a service and then start selling those raffle tickets. You could even offer a cash prize if you find the concept works better. How about providing a percentage of the prize money? The higher up the sales go, the higher the prize winnings.
4. Trivia Night
Who doesn’t love a good trivia night? Why not partner with a local business to set up your event. The restaurant might even be able to donate a percentage of their sales to your business. Charge a cover fee for the teams and arrange someone to host the trivia night. You can even pair it up with a raffle which you can present to one lucky winner or team for the night.
5. Tie-Dye Weekend
Host a variety of tie-dye stations where people pay to make their own tie-dye shirts. You can charge a one-off fee for them to try their hand at dying one of your t-shirts or they could offer a donation when tie-dyeing their own piece of clothing. Good old fashioned family fun which can be paired with another event.
6. Art Show
You may be surprised by the artistic talent you have in the area. Local artists can pay to have their art registered, and attendees can pay to view the collection. Afterwards, artists can auction their pieces off for your charity. This is a great way, in particular, to boost the feeling of community and raise awareness of your non-profit.
7. Charity Car Wash
A car wash is a wonderful way to raise money for your charity. All you need are a few volunteers as well as some buckets and cleaning equipment. Set up car washing stations at a variety of places around town and ask people to donate some money for a clean car. Everyone is a winner at these kind of service events.
As with any idea for fundraising, the promotion and marketing that occurs behind the scenes will make the biggest difference between a mediocre and a successful campaign.
