Social media can be stressful, frustrating, time-consuming and exasperating. But it can also be incredibly rewarding if handled correctly. So how you do maintain control of your NFP social media accounts, without it managing you?
Have a set routine
One of the best things you can do regarding your social media is to have a routine. Diarise when you are going to post your tweets and updates and then check it at specific times of the day. By sticking to a well-thought out plan, it will save you much worry about whether you are doing things right or wrong.
Know your goals
Knowing why you created social media accounts in the first place will help you ensure that your time spent online is more focused. Understand your goals and what you want to achieve when it comes to marketing on your social media accounts. That way each time you log in, you can ensure that you are on track to maximise your time and effort.
Limit your time on social media
If you spend all of your time on social media, then it will drive you crazy. Dip in and out of it to learn things or update, but don’t feel you have to be on online 24/7 to understand it. Do your posts. Check the hash tags. Respond as necessary. Then move on. Spending too much time on social media can be overwhelming even for the experts.
Post captivating pictures
Images and pictures get more attention than regular text-based posts. So if you are unsure of your next move, post a picture until you work it out. It will buy you some time until you decide what to do next. It is one of the best ways to get attention and lift post engagement.
When in doubt, ask questions
If you don’t know what to post on your NFP page, then ask. Your followers will be only too happy to let you know what they want to see. They are the ones who are the most knowledgeable about why they are following your page in the first place, and will only be too happy to offer advice.
