mentorMentor the Treasurer is a program from CPA Australia and Pro-Bono Australia which gives CPAs the opportunity to be a volunteer mentor to a treasurer in a small not for profit organisation.

Mentor the Treasurer is a unique program which allows CPA’s to give back to the community and to support small and often struggling not for profits.

Aimed at organisations with a turnover of less than $100k per annum, the mentors help to better manage their funds and to improve governance.

Often volunteer treasurers have no formal qualifications in accounting or business management so they are thrown into a situation where they have to learn quickly.  It’s not a great feeling when the financial health of the organisation seems to be sitting on your shoulders.

Mentors don’t do the work for your treasurer. Instead they educate and guide them through the processes and challenges they face in the role.

Mentor the Treasurer has been very successful in helping small not for profit clubs find control of their books and their volunteer treasurers find comfort in the role.

If you are the new volunteer treasurer at a small sporting or social club or a not for profit organisation with a small budget, you might benefit from being mentored by qualified CPA’s.
