If you were looking to update your Australian Business Number (ABN) or lodge your BAS and use Mozilla Firefox as your browser of choice, then you might have been experiencing some difficulties. AUSkey, the identifier login that lets you access online government services on behalf of a business, does not work on Version 52 of Mozilla Firefox.
If you wish to access AUSkey, then you will need to download Mozilla Firefox’s browser extension or use an alternative browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Safari, depending on the type of PC or laptop you use.
Here are the instructions for both Window and Mac users for ease.
Windows Users: If you have been using AUSkey through Mozilla Firefox on Windows to date, you have three options.
1. Download the extension from the Australian Business Register website.
2. Login to the government online service using Mozilla Firefox and follow the prompts.
3. Use an alternative browser such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.
If you would like to continue using Firefox and are having trouble installing the extension on Windows, contact the AUSkey helpdesk. They are only too happy to talk you through the issue.
Apple Mac Users: If you have been using Mozilla Firefox to access AUSkey on Mac machines, then you only have one option available to you.
1. Unfortunately you will have to switch browswers as Firefox is no longer supported. You will need to use an alternative browser such as Chrome with the extension link or Safari with some browser setting updates.
Education is key when it comes to managing online hiccups like this. If you know of anyone who may be using AUSkey alongside the Firefox browser, then refer them to the troubleshooting page. This will save them a lot of headaches in the future.
