We have covered a lot of important topics over the last few weeks so today I thought we would look at something a little more light-hearted.
It occurred to me that you might not be as familiar with Robin Hood as I am. My vision of the outlaw/hero was shaped by the 1950′s TV show and by the myths that I read as a child. To me he is a brave man who defends those being beaten by a corrupt and unfair system. He has a clear vision of right and wrong and he is creative with his strategies. He is working towards a better world and better way of living.
Doesn’t that sound very much like you in your role as volunteer treasurer in a not for profit organisation? You are not in it for the money. You are in it to make a difference to people and you do that through careful management of the funds. That’s how you ensure the money does what it was intended to do.
Take a few minutes to look at this old clip of Robin Hood in action and you will see what I mean, and learn to see yourself as a hero. Click on the image of Robin Hood.
