Harnessing technology for the common good, Net Squared recently announced a Global Twitter Chat, where social change activists will come together to discuss issues and innovations in the health and technology fields. For many NFPs, further information on this topic will lead to advances in operations, increased service to communities, and improved outcomes.
#NPTechChat will be attended by representatives from TechSoup Global, The UN Foundation and +Social Good. The inaugural event is the beginning of a monthly series of Twitter chats where on-topic sharing of expertise and ideas can take place. Specifically, discussion will include how technology is impacting community health initiatives, and increasing access to healthcare worldwide. #NPTechChat aims to address how technology can be used to reduce barriers to healthcare, and is a follow-up to the 68th World Health Assembly held in Geneva.
Participants will bring a variety of experiences to the table, and share both innovations and challenges. Success stories and stories of shortcomings alike can be instructive to organisations seeking to better manage their use of technology to deliver healthcare worldwide.
TechSoup Global is a network of 62 NGOs spanning over 120 countries, and specialises in utilising technology for NFPs. Their Senior Director and other members will deliver relevant information. They will also be keen to hear from participants about where their organisations sit with using technology to meet healthcare aims, and what has been working for them.
The discussion will include
- technology and health services in the developing world
- technology in community health settings
- use of mobile tools/apps
- use of free tools
- using technology to combat global health challenges
- success stories of technology in global health services
